About Project
Technical Support to SDG unit through a Joint Venture to Develop Policy Paper for the Localization of SDG1, 4 and 6 in Sindh
This project supports the localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 4, and 6 in Sindh, Pakistan. It builds on the global transition from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the SDGs, which aim to address global challenges universally. Pakistan adopted the 2030 Agenda in 2015, with a national framework developed to achieve these goals. Given the devolution of powers in Pakistan, localization of SDGs is crucial, and Sindh has established an SDGs Support Unit to coordinate efforts. The project involves team mobilization, situation analysis, and developing policy recommendations to enhance Sindh’s progress toward these SDGs

Services Provided:

Momentum delivered comprehensive technical support to the Government of Sindh for developing and finalizing a policy paper focused on the localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 4, and 6. This support was part of a joint venture with UNICEF Sindh and included the following services:

  1. Technical Support and Framework Development: Provided expert guidance to develop a strategic framework for the localization of SDGs 1 (No Poverty), 4 (Quality Education), and 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) tailored to the Sindh context.
  2. Policy Paper Preparation: Utilized the SDGs Toolbox and Accelerator and Bottleneck Analysis (ABA) Tool for comprehensive analysis, leading to the creation of a policy paper that outlines actionable strategies for achieving the selected SDGs in Sindh.
  3. Situation Analysis: Conducted an in-depth situation analysis to assess the current status and challenges related to SDGs 1, 4, and 6 in Sindh. This analysis provided a foundation for the development of targeted policy recommendations.
  4. Stakeholder Consultation: Engaged with key stakeholders, including government officials and sectoral partners, to gather insights and ensure that the policy paper addresses the needs and perspectives of all relevant parties.
  5. Joint Venture Technical Support: Collaborated with UNICEF Sindh to provide technical support throughout the project, ensuring that the policy paper aligns with both local priorities and international standards for SDG localization.

These services collectively supported the development of a robust policy framework aimed at enhancing Sindh’s ability to effectively achieve SDGs 1, 4, and 6.
