Project Final Evaluation “Early Recovery support for flood affected families in Pakistan”.

Objective:

Project Final Evaluation “Early Recovery support for flood affected families in Pakistan”.

About Project

The 2022 monsoon flooding in Pakistan caused extensive damage, destroying over 287,000 homes and affecting vital infrastructure such as schools, bridges, and roads. Around 1 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian aid. The floods have also disrupted agriculture by silting irrigation channels and led to significant livestock losses. This project aims to address these issues by restoring essential services and improving resilience among affected communities, focusing particularly on vulnerable groups such as women, children, and people with special needs.

Key interventions include improving WASH services by constructing and rehabilitating hand pumps, conducting hygiene sessions, and providing hygiene kits. The project also involves the rehabilitation of irrigation channels through a Cash for Work program, distribution of livestock feed to support farmers, provision of kitchen gardening packages, and supply of wheat seeds and fertilizers to restore agricultural activities. These efforts aim to reduce morbidity and mortality, restore livelihoods, and increase resilience to future shocks.
