Development of Donor Relationship Management Strategic Framework
About Project
Aimed to assess and improve the organization’s capability in fundraising and donor management. Through the application of organizational capacity assessment tools, various areas for enhancement were identified, including the need for refining fundraising procedures and processes to tap into different donor streams effectively. It was noted that strengthening people skills within the core team and support roles could enhance the effectiveness of fundraising activities. Additionally, improvements in core organizational systems and processes for raising funds and managing fundraising activities were highlighted as essential.
Historical data related to the funding of IR-Pakistan’s country program revealed a heavy reliance on IR worldwide partners for program financing, primarily due to the absence of fundraising operations within Pakistan. While the organization planned for program value growth, challenges such as insufficient availability of human resources and financial constraints hindered the development of an indigenous funding base. Opportunities for leveraging the organization’s positive image and expanding outreach to potential donors, including the corporate sector, were identified. However, alignment between IR-Worldwide partners and IR-Pakistan for donor engagement and the generation of research evidence to support fundraising efforts were deemed crucial. Despite these challenges, IR-Pakistan’s positive image, particularly in upholding Islamic values, presented opportunities for extending its reach across diverse donor segments.
Momentum undertook a comprehensive consulting project to develop a five-year strategic framework for Donor Business Development for Islamic Relief UK. This initiative was designed to enhance the organization’s donor engagement and funding strategies through a detailed and strategic process.
Donor Mapping: Identified potential donors and assessed their relationship to the organization, helping to determine who is most likely to support the cause and how best to approach them for contributions.
Detailed Background Analysis: Conducted an in-depth review of the socio-economic, political, legal, and technological environments relevant to donor business development.
Current Trends and Future Forecasting: Mapped current trends and projected future changes to guide strategic decision-making.
Internal Strengths and Structure Analysis: Evaluated Islamic Relief’s internal strengths, organizational structure, and processes related to donor business development.
Strategic Roadmap Development: Created a comprehensive five-year strategic roadmap based on a thorough analysis of the organization’s donor business development function.
Implementation and Rollout: Executed the strategic plan, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Ongoing Support: Provided one year of backstopping support to facilitate successful implementation and achieve the forecasted funding levels.
This approach enabled Islamic Relief UK to effectively strategize its donor business development efforts and reach its funding targets.
